This is Daimonji during the day...
Last night was the lighting of 5 bonfires on Daimonji on the mountain to the northeast of our hotel. The hotel held a special viewing on the rooftop. I was so excited to see this great symbolic ushering of the spirits to their homes. The traffic around here has been very intense and busy. Now I wonder if the traffic was all O-bon festival related...

it's interesting that the Obon festival in SLC was held last month! i wonder why the discrepancy?
